Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Studies (BSCHS)
 
Riding on the steady growth of the information technology sector, the hotel and hospitality industry in the State is thriving, with healthy occupancy levels and consistent increase in demand. So far the push for the hotel industry has been given by the booming IT, especially the business process outsourcing sector. It has to be sustained by tourism, and other industry sectors in the coming years. The demand from a rapidly expanding hospitality industry in India and abroad, a limited pool of qualified and well-trained staff to choose from, not to speak of the demand generated by the mushrooming of Indian restaurants abroad, has resulted in a severe shortage of expert hands, whether chefs, F&B managers, house-keeping personnel and HR staff.

Hospitality industry is facing manpower crunch. Today, the hotel industry promises a bright future for anyone who wishes to take up a career in this segment. The students opting for hotel management courses must have an affinity towards socializing and understanding the needs of the people

Suryadatta College of Hospitality Management and Travel Tourism has taken up the challenge of shaping the raw talent to a competent and equipped students with a high degree of academic knowledge and skills to meet the human resource needs of the Hotel industry and to emphasize on practical inputs.

Introduction :
BSCHS is a three-year, full-time, Bachelor Degree Programme in Hospitality Studies resulting in a Bachelor Degree in Hospitality Studies by the University of Pune.


Objectives :
To keep abreast with the changing hospitality trends and latest technology. To equip students with a high degree of academic knowledge and skills to meet the human resource needs of the industry. To emphasize on practical inputs.


Methodology :

The course is for students interested in pursuing a career in Hospitality industries. At Suryadatta, we offer both-the theory and the practical exposure in this field. The learning methodology includes lectures, assignments, industrial visits & project work and field work etc. The programme provides practical exposure and knowledge of actual practices in the industry.


Programme Structure :
This is a Six Semester, three year, full-time programme. The programme, apart from theory papers, also consists of Assignments, Industrial visits, seminars & project work. In addition students undergo Career Development Programme (CDP) with inputs such as English Speaking, Soft Skills etc.


Eligibility :
H.S.C (10+2) from any stream with English as passing subject with 45% marks. An eligible candidate has to pass Suryadatta Entrance test & personal interview for securing admission to the programme.
